Statement
My education is a bachelor’s of science in organization management. I have always been interested in art but only as an observer for my first sixty-five years. Almost ten years ago after retiring, I took my first clay class intended to help me understand and better appreciate the process the native Americans used to make their pottery. It was a coil and hand building class and I was immediately smitten with the processes. I spent time exploring coil building then switched over to slab building almost exclusively and that is where I remain. After experimenting with traditional glazes for the first 9 years I have turned almost exclusively to alternative methods of finishing my pieces. The processes I am currently exploring for finishing my pieces include slab raku, slip raku, foil raku, smoke, horse hair, ghost feathers, fuming, Obvara and crackle raku glazes. Occasionally I combine these processes to get a desired finish.
