JPG Invitation for your Social Media
Read this Call for Entries carefully, prepare your ceramic work
As a member of New Mexico Potters & Clay Artists, you are invited to participate in our annual Celebration of Clay exhibit. Consider sharing a creation with your clay community. May you be inspired by this year’s theme: Celebration of Clay: 50 Years of NMPCA.
In 1974, a group of potters who had been meeting regularly in Albuquerque, formed the “New Mexico Potters’ Association.” The name, “New Mexico Potters and Clay Artists” was adopted in 2004 to represent the members’ wide range of expression in clay. Potters joined in from Taos, Santa Fe, Cuba, Socorro, Cedar Crest, Placitas, Dixon, Abiquiu, El Rito, and more. 50 years later in 2024, the organization supports 225 ceramic artists from the state of New Mexico and beyond. Hallmarks of this association include member get-togethers of annual meetings and member shows. We offer workshops at Ghost Ranch Conference Center, Clay Olympics held with NM Clay, field trips, raku firings in members’ backyards, juried shows at the Sunport in Albuquerque. We have awarded grants annually for ceramics education programs through our Bill Armstrong Grant, since 2002. Both current events and history are shared in The Slip Trail which is now a blog. Elected officers have continuously honed an organizational structure that has adapted to the times, resulting in a steadfast presence for the clay arts in New Mexico. We are celebrating ourselves, a distinctive and diverse clay community, with our 50th anniversary show!
Entries into the annual Celebration of Clay are accepted in order submitted by members, up to the maximum number of entries that can be accepted into the show. This year, we will be accepting 62 entries. Not a member of NMPCA? It is easy to join at www.NMPCA.com
Registration will be open from August 1-31. The Celebration of Clay committee chose to limit to one piece per member for our 50th anniversary show in order to allow the maximum number of members to participate. The last day of submissions is August 31, 2024. Good quality digital image is required at the time of registration.

Awards will be selected by an award jury. Awards will be announced at the reception on October 5th.
